NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT NECESSARY. A PURCHASE OR PAYMENT WILL NOT IMPROVE A PARTICIPANT'S ABILITY TO COMPETE OR WIN.
About These Rules. These Official Rules govern each recurring weekly VibeCheck skill contest (each, a "Weekly Contest"). Each Weekly Contest is a separate and independent contest with its own start and end times, participant performance period, winner determination, and prize pool. Each Weekly Contest also has in-app details ("Weekly Contest Details"), including applicable Checks, scoring disclosures, prize-growth schedule, maximum prize, and deadlines.
Agreement. By participating in a Weekly Contest, a participant agrees to these Official Rules, the applicable Weekly Contest Details, the VibeCheck Terms of Service, and Sponsor's good-faith decisions concerning administration and interpretation. If these Official Rules conflict with the Terms of Service regarding Contest eligibility, scoring, administration, winner determination, or prize fulfillment, these Official Rules control. If these Official Rules conflict with general marketing or in-app promotional copy, these Official Rules control.
The Weekly Contest is sponsored and administered solely by Elsebound Studio LLC, a Delaware limited liability company (“Sponsor”).
Sponsor mailing address: Elsebound Studio LLC, 13127 SW 62nd Ave, Portland, OR 97219.
Questions regarding a Weekly Contest or these Official Rules may be directed to [email protected].
VibeCheck is designed and administered as a skill-based social prediction competition. Winners are determined through objective, cumulative scoring based on participant performance across multiple Checks and episodes. Winners are not selected randomly, and Sponsor will not use a random drawing, random tie-breaker, lottery mechanism, or other chance-based selection method to determine a winner.
The skills tested include interpreting social and cultural signals, forecasting how the disclosed response population will answer, evaluating uncertainty, calibrating confidence, strategically allocating non-purchasable Points, and maintaining consistent performance under the published rules. Community responses are external inputs, but participants exercise judgment and predictive skill by forecasting those responses across multiple questions under a common scoring system.
A participant's likelihood of winning depends on that participant's relative performance under the published scoring method, including prediction accuracy, Point-allocation decisions, and any objective participation or Streak components disclosed before the affected gameplay.
The prize competition is open to legal residents of the fifty (50) United States and the District of Columbia who, at the time they first participate in the applicable Weekly Contest, are at least eighteen (18) years old and have reached the age of majority in their state of legal residence, whichever is older.
Employees, contractors, officers, directors, members, and agents of Sponsor, and members of their immediate families or households, are not eligible. "Immediate family" includes a spouse, domestic partner, parent, child, sibling, and the spouse or domestic partner of each such person. "Household" means persons who share the same residence for at least three (3) months during a calendar year, whether related or not.
Eligibility is determined based on legal residence, not temporary physical location. Sponsor may require documentation reasonably necessary to verify identity, age, account ownership, and legal residence.
The prize competition is void where prohibited or restricted by applicable law. Residents of U.S. territories and possessions are not eligible unless Sponsor expressly includes them in the applicable Weekly Contest Details.
Each Weekly Contest consists of seven (7) consecutive daily episodes unless Sponsor clearly discloses a different structure in the Weekly Contest Details before participation begins. Each Weekly Contest has a distinct Contest Period, separate scoring result, separate winner determination, and separate prize pool. Specific Checks and editorial content may vary, but the governing scoring method, participation requirements, prize-growth schedule, and maximum prize for an active Weekly Contest will not be materially changed after that Weekly Contest begins except as permitted under Section 16.
The Weekly Contest Details and VibeCheck application will display the applicable start time, submission deadlines, reveal times, end time, available Checks, scoring disclosures, prize information, and maximum possible prize. These times will be converted and displayed in the participant's device-local time based on the timezone settings reported by the participant's device.
Sponsor's servers are the official timekeeping devices for all Weekly Contests. A submission is timely only if Sponsor's systems receive and record it before the applicable deadline. A participant's device clock, timezone setting, delayed connection, incorrect local-time display, or other device or network condition will not extend or modify a deadline.
Participants are responsible for maintaining accurate date, time, and timezone settings on their devices. Sponsor's server records will control in the event of any discrepancy regarding the time a Check response, Prediction Allocation, or other Contest action was received.
Participation in the prize competition is free. No purchase, subscription, payment, donation, ad view, referral, invitation, social-media share, mailing-list subscription, or other commercial or promotional action is required to enter, remain eligible, earn prize-scoring Points, or win.
Purchases, advertisement views, referrals, invitations, social sharing, and other promotional actions will not award prize-scoring Points, provide additional entries or Checks, improve prediction accuracy, change a participant's score, preserve or improve a prize-scoring multiplier, or otherwise improve a participant's likelihood of winning.
To enter an applicable Weekly Contest, an eligible person must:
Participants may respond to one or more Checks during the Contest Period. Missing a Check may reduce the participant's opportunity to earn Points but will not otherwise result in a fee or penalty.
Limit one (1) account per person. A participant may not enter or participate through another person's account or use multiple identities, phone numbers, devices, or accounts to obtain additional scoring opportunities. Use of false information, automated systems, scripts, bots, emulators, or other manipulation methods is prohibited and may result in disqualification of all associated accounts.
Participants may revise a response or Prediction Allocation only as permitted by the in-app interface before the applicable deadline. After the submission window closes, the recorded submission is final except for a Sponsor correction applied consistently to all similarly affected participants.
Normal internet access, mobile data, device, and carrier charges imposed by a participant's service provider may apply and are the participant's responsibility.
During the Contest Period, Sponsor will publish prompts or questions known as "Checks." A Check may use selections, rankings, sliders, matrices, numeric responses, text responses, or another disclosed prediction format. Participants may submit a response and may be asked to predict the aggregated result for the response population identified for that Check.
Before the applicable submission deadline, each Check will disclose or link to:
Unless the Weekly Contest Details state otherwise:
Sponsor may delay publication of a result while reviewing suspected fraud, duplicate accounts, coordinated manipulation, technical errors, or other integrity concerns.
For a Check resolved by the most-selected response, the response receiving the greatest number or percentage of valid responses is treated as correct. If two or more responses are tied for the highest result, every tied response is treated as correct. Sponsor will not randomly break a tied community result.
For a Check that asks participants to identify the least-selected response, the response receiving the smallest number or percentage of valid responses is treated as correct. A participant who selected that response will be scored as correct under the formula disclosed for that Check. If two or more responses are tied for the lowest result, every tied response is treated as correct. Sponsor will not randomly break a tied least-selected result.
For a Check that cannot be resolved through a simple most-selected or least-selected rule, the Check will disclose an objective resolution method before submission. Sponsor will apply that method consistently and will not change it after reviewing participant performance.
Participants receive a virtual Point balance ("Points") used to measure performance and determine Weekly Contest ranking. Points are virtual scoring units only and:
Unless different scoring is disclosed in the applicable Weekly Contest Details before participation begins:
Participants may allocate, or "wager," any permitted portion of their accumulated Points on a prediction for a Check, up to the Point balance available to them. The term "wager" refers only to a strategic allocation of free, non-purchasable virtual Points and does not describe a monetary bet, stake, deposit, entry fee, or transfer of value.
Participants gain Points when a prediction is correct and lose Points when a prediction is incorrect, based on the amount allocated and the scoring formula disclosed before the submission deadline. The same gain-and-loss mechanics will be applied uniformly to all participants receiving the same Check.
Streaks may continue across Weekly Contests and may carry over as part of an ongoing season-based system. To maintain a Streak, a participant must complete at least one eligible Check response on each consecutive day required by the disclosed Streak rules. The maximum multiplier, the way it applies to scoring, and any reset conditions will be displayed in the VibeCheck application.
Any Streak, multiplier, or bonus that affects prize scoring must be earned through objective, free gameplay conditions disclosed in advance, applied consistently, and not randomly assigned or purchasable. Any optional advertisement-supported Streak restoration offered by Sponsor will be limited to a cosmetic or non-prize continuity feature and will not restore or preserve a prize-scoring multiplier, increase prize-scoring Points, affect prize rank, or improve a participant's likelihood of winning.
Sponsor may correct a scoring configuration or calculation error, but any correction will be applied consistently to all similarly situated participants and handled under Section 16.
Participants will be ranked according to the cumulative Points recorded during the applicable Contest Period under the published scoring rules. Any Points, Streaks, or multipliers that reset or carry over will do so only as expressly disclosed before the affected Weekly Contest begins.
Leaderboard positions and in-app result displays are provisional until Sponsor completes verification. A position may change because of:
A displayed leaderboard position does not guarantee that a participant has won a prize.
The prize pool for each Weekly Contest is funded solely by Sponsor and is aggregated on a daily basis throughout that Weekly Contest's Contest Period. It is not derived from entry fees, participant purchases, advertisement views, participant Point allocations, or participant losses.
Each day of the Weekly Contest contributes a minimum of seven U.S. dollars ($7.00 USD) to the cumulative weekly prize pool. The prize pool may also increase each day based on predefined daily participation thresholds established before the Weekly Contest begins.
The Weekly Contest Details will disclose the applicable daily participation thresholds, prize increments, and the maximum possible aggregate prize. Sponsor may establish a maximum lower than $4,999 for a particular Weekly Contest. In every case, the total announced, accrued, offered, substituted, and awarded value of all prizes for a single Weekly Contest, across all prize categories and all co-winners combined, will not exceed four thousand nine hundred ninety-nine U.S. dollars ($4,999.00 USD). The $4,999 maximum applies to the entire Weekly Contest, not to each winner.
If the published daily contribution and participation formula would otherwise cause the prize pool to exceed the applicable maximum, the final applicable contribution or increment will automatically be reduced to the amount necessary to reach that maximum. After the maximum is reached, no additional contribution or increment will be added for that Weekly Contest.
For purposes of daily prize-growth thresholds, an "Eligible Daily Participant" is an eligible participant who submits at least one valid Check response during the applicable day. Daily thresholds and increments are calculated independently for each day and added to that Weekly Contest's cumulative prize pool. Fraudulent, duplicate, automated, coordinated, technically invalid, or disqualified participation may be excluded from the calculation.
The final prize amount is the sum of all valid daily contributions and increments after Sponsor completes any necessary participation, fraud, and technical review, subject always to the applicable maximum. Sponsor will not reduce a validly accrued prize-pool contribution merely because the identity or number of potential winners becomes known.
Each Weekly Contest prize pool is separate. No unawarded, forfeited, unused, or unpaid amount from one Weekly Contest will roll over, carry forward, combine with, supplement, or increase the prize pool for another Weekly Contest. Non-prize seasonal or persistent leaderboards do not create an additional cash prize unless separate official rules expressly provide otherwise.
At the end of the applicable Contest Period, the eligible participant with the highest verified cumulative Point total will be deemed the potential winner, subject to verification. Sponsor may display provisional results immediately after the Contest Period closes, but a participant is not an official winner until Sponsor completes verification and expressly confirms the award.
If two or more eligible participants are tied for the highest verified Point total, each tied participant is a potential co-winner and the final prize pool will be divided as equally as mathematically possible among them. Sponsor will not use a random drawing or other chance-based method to break a first-place tie.
For fractional-cent allocation, Sponsor will convert the final prize pool to whole cents, divide those cents by the number of verified co-winners, and distribute any remaining whole cents one cent at a time according to the chronological order in which the co-winners submitted their first valid Check response in the applicable Weekly Contest, earliest first. No co-winner's share will differ from another co-winner's share by more than one cent. The total aggregate amount paid will not exceed the final prize pool or the $4,999 maximum.
If a tied potential winner is disqualified or fails verification, that person's share will be recalculated and divided among the remaining verified participants tied at the highest Point total under the same objective process. If every participant at that score level is disqualified or fails verification, Sponsor may evaluate the participant or participants with the next-highest verified Point total. If no eligible participant can be verified, the prize may remain unawarded and will not roll over to another Weekly Contest.
Sponsor will attempt to notify each potential winner through the VibeCheck application and using the contact information associated with the participant's account. A potential winner must respond and provide all requested information within seven (7) calendar days after the results are revealed or notification is sent, whichever occurs later, unless Sponsor states a different period in the notification.
Sponsor may require documentation reasonably necessary to confirm:
A potential winner may be disqualified and forfeit the prize if the potential winner cannot be contacted, does not respond by the stated deadline, fails to provide reasonably requested documentation, provides false or misleading information, is found to be ineligible, violates these Official Rules, declines the prize, or is legally unable to accept it. If a potential winner is disqualified or forfeits the prize, Sponsor will not select a replacement winner at random. Sponsor will identify the next eligible potential winner, if any, by reapplying the published scoring and eligibility rules under Section 10.
Prizes will be paid in U.S. dollars through Venmo or another reasonable lawful payment method selected by Sponsor and communicated during verification. A verified winner will not be required to create a Venmo account if another reasonable payment method is available.
Sponsor intends to distribute each prize within thirty (30) calendar days after the winner completes verification and provides all reasonably required payment and tax information. A winner will not be required to pay a fee to claim a prize.
Prizes are not transferable or assignable before payment. No substitution is permitted except that Sponsor may substitute a payment method or a prize of equal value when reasonably necessary, provided the aggregate value of all prizes for the Weekly Contest remains at or below the applicable maximum and never exceeds $4,999.
Sponsor is not responsible for payment delays caused by incomplete or inaccurate information supplied by a winner, payment-provider outages, legal or compliance reviews, or circumstances beyond Sponsor's reasonable control.
All federal, state, and local taxes and any other costs associated with receipt or use of a prize that are not expressly stated as being paid by Sponsor are the sole responsibility of the winner.
Sponsor may withhold payment until required tax and verification documentation is received. Sponsor may issue an IRS Form 1099 or other tax document when required by applicable law, including when a winner's cumulative reportable payments from Sponsor reach an applicable reporting threshold. The reported value may include the total amount paid to the winner during the relevant tax year.
Failure to timely provide legally or reasonably required documentation may result in forfeiture of the prize. Sponsor does not provide tax advice, and winners should consult their own tax advisers regarding prize treatment.
Sponsor may investigate conduct that reasonably appears to threaten the integrity or fair administration of a Weekly Contest. Prohibited conduct includes, without limitation:
Sponsor may use account, device, network, response, timing, and other reasonably relevant records to investigate suspected misconduct. Sponsor may remove fraudulent or invalid responses, correct affected Point totals or participation counts, suspend accounts, disqualify participants, recover prizes obtained through a material violation to the extent permitted by law, and pursue other lawful remedies. Material decisions will be based on reasonably available evidence and applied in good faith.
Sponsor is not responsible for late, lost, incomplete, corrupted, misdirected, duplicated, or unrecorded submissions caused by participant error, network failure, device failure, platform outage, mobile carrier, internet provider, or circumstances outside Sponsor's reasonable control.
If a Check contains a material error, cannot be resolved under its disclosed method, is compromised by manipulation, or is affected by a technical problem that materially undermines competitive fairness, Sponsor may void that Check for all affected participants. A voided Check will not be resolved by random selection. Sponsor may restore allocated Points, remove the Check's scoring effect, or apply another uniform correction that preserves fairness.
Sponsor may delay a reveal or result while it reviews suspected fraud, duplicate accounts, coordinated activity, technical errors, or other integrity concerns.
Sponsor may modify Contest mechanics, scoring methodologies, eligibility requirements, prize schedules, participation thresholds, Streak rules, multipliers, and other features for future Weekly Contests. Future changes will be disclosed before the affected Weekly Contest begins and will not retroactively apply to a Contest already in progress. While this version of the Official Rules remains in effect, the aggregate prize for each future Weekly Contest remains subject to the $4,999 maximum in Section 9.
During an active Weekly Contest, Sponsor may take action reasonably necessary to address technical errors, incorrect scoring configuration, fraud, security incidents, service outages, unauthorized intervention, data corruption, platform failures, insufficient valid participation, legal restrictions, force majeure, or other circumstances that materially impair integrity or proper administration.
When reasonably possible, Sponsor will address an affected Weekly Contest in the following order:
Any substitute winner-determination method must remain skill-based, must not involve a random drawing, and must be described in a notice to affected participants. Sponsor will not terminate an active Weekly Contest merely to avoid awarding a properly earned prize, will not use knowledge of participant identity to alter the scoring formula or select a preferred winner, and will not increase the aggregate prize above the maximum disclosed before the Weekly Contest begins or above $4,999.
A participant's likelihood of winning depends on the number and performance of eligible participants, the number of Checks completed, Point-allocation decisions, prediction accuracy, consistent participation under the disclosed Streak rules, and the scoring methodology applied during the Weekly Contest. Because winner determination is based on relative participant performance rather than random selection, exact odds cannot be calculated in advance.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, participants agree to release and hold harmless Sponsor and its members, affiliates, officers, directors, employees, contractors, agents, successors, assigns, technology providers, advertising providers, prize-payment providers, and app-distribution platforms from claims arising out of:
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Sponsor will not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, exemplary, special, or punitive damages arising from a Weekly Contest. Except where prohibited by law, Sponsor's aggregate liability arising from the Weekly Contest will not exceed the value of the prize at issue.
Nothing in these Official Rules excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability arising from Sponsor's fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence, or other non-waivable conduct or injury for which applicable law prohibits limitation.
Personal information collected in connection with a Weekly Contest is subject to the VibeCheck Privacy Policy linked from the VibeCheck application. Sponsor may collect, use, retain, and disclose information as reasonably necessary for Contest administration, eligibility and identity verification, fraud prevention, scoring and leaderboard administration, prize fulfillment, payment processing, tax compliance, legal compliance, and responding to participant inquiries.
Prize verification may require information not ordinarily displayed in a public VibeCheck profile. Sponsor will not publicly disclose a winner's street address, telephone number, tax identification number, identity document, payment information, or other sensitive verification information and will limit access and retention consistent with legitimate business, tax, compliance, and legal purposes.
Except where prohibited by law, Sponsor may announce a verified winner using the winner's VibeCheck alias, first name and last initial, city and state, prize amount, and leaderboard result. Any broader commercial use of a winner's full name, image, voice, likeness, statement, interview, or recording will require separate consent unless otherwise permitted by applicable law.
Sponsor does not maintain or distribute a broader public winner list except where required by applicable law or reasonably necessary to administer the Contest. Requests for available winner information may be sent to [email protected] with "VibeCheck Winner List" in the subject line and the applicable Weekly Contest or season identified in the message.
Except where prohibited by law, any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to a Weekly Contest or these Official Rules will be resolved through binding individual arbitration, and not through a class, consolidated, collective, or representative action, as further described in the VibeCheck Terms of Service.
Arbitration will be administered by the American Arbitration Association under its applicable Consumer Arbitration Rules, subject to the procedures and exceptions stated in the VibeCheck Terms of Service. Nothing in this section prevents either party from bringing an eligible individual claim in small claims court.
Participants and Sponsor waive the right to a jury trial and the right to participate in a class action or class-wide arbitration to the fullest extent permitted by law. These Official Rules are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except that participants retain any non-waivable rights and protections provided by the law of their state of residence.
If the arbitration or dispute-resolution language in these Official Rules conflicts with the VibeCheck Terms of Service, the Terms of Service will control. Any provision found invalid or unenforceable will be enforced to the maximum extent permitted, and the remaining provisions will remain in effect.
Apple Inc. is not a sponsor of, responsible for, or involved in the Weekly Contest in any manner. Google LLC is not a sponsor of, responsible for, or involved in the Weekly Contest in any manner. The Weekly Contest is sponsored and administered solely by Elsebound Studio LLC.
Any reference to Apple, the App Store, Google, or Google Play is solely for identification of the applicable distribution platform and does not imply sponsorship, endorsement, administration, or responsibility for the Contest or prizes.
These Official Rules, together with the applicable Weekly Contest Details, VibeCheck Terms of Service, and VibeCheck Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between the participant and Sponsor regarding participation in the Weekly Contest.
Sponsor's decisions regarding administration and interpretation are final and binding, subject to applicable law. Sponsor reserves the right to interpret and enforce these Official Rules in good faith, correct clerical or technical errors, and take reasonable action necessary to preserve Contest integrity. Sponsor may not retroactively alter a scoring, eligibility, maximum-prize, or prize-allocation rule merely to change which participant wins or to increase the announced prize exposure.
If any provision is determined to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permitted and the remaining provisions will remain in effect. Sponsor's failure to enforce any provision in one instance does not constitute a waiver in another instance.
Section headings are provided for convenience only and do not affect interpretation. "Including" means "including without limitation." These Official Rules may be provided electronically and accepted through in-app participation.
In the event of a conflict between different versions of these Official Rules, the version displayed or linked in the VibeCheck application at the beginning of the applicable Weekly Contest will govern that Contest. Sponsor may update these Official Rules for future Weekly Contests by publishing the revised version and effective date before the affected Contest begins. Any future increase above the $4,999 aggregate maximum requires revised rules and any registration, bonding, trust, filing, or other compliance measures then required by applicable law.
